Ad seen on marvel.com:

Twelve issues, huh?

I guess the publishers feeling awfully confident that their Black Widow monthly is going to last a whole year, despite the quick cancellations of recent books like SWORD, Doctor Voodoo, Captain Britain and MI13 and the ongoings-downgraded-to-miniseries like Fantastic Force and Spider-Woman.

Maybe Marvel figures that if they cancel it at #6, they can just send 2 copies of each issue?

Deadpool Merc With a Mouth has almost become a "13-issue maxiseries."

But then, I think Black Widow has a better chance of making it that far. She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel lasted, what, 50 issues each?

I don't know why I wrote "almost." I think I meant "just." I don't know how I mixed up the two.

I'm guessing that they're betting on the movie garnering some interest. Plus, if they cancel the title, they just move you to a different title or refund your money (prorated, of course).

I'm just sort of bummed that Paul Cornell isn't doing it.

Caleb, when Black Widow: Deadly Origin comes out in trade, you should really check it out. It's great stuff.
